The Athens Center for Indian & Indo-Greek Studies organizes regular courses of the Sanskrit language for beginners and advanced students. Classes are held in small groups of 4-6 people once or twice a week with Indologist Dr Dimitrios Vassiliadis.
Courses Start: October 24, 2016
Course A1 for beginners: Every Tuesday morning, 11:00 to 13:00 hours
Course A1 for beginners: Every Tuesday afternoon, 17:00 to 19:00 hours
Course B1 for advanced students: Every Monday noon, 13.00 to 15.00 hours
The offered courses are:
1. Class A for beginners – Introduction to Sanskrit language.
The course is based on the book “Introduction to Sanskrit Language” by Dimitrios Vassiliadis and includes learning of the Devanagari script, vocabulary, syntax, grammar and study of selected Sanskrit passages.
2. Class B for advanced students & study of Sanskrit hymns and Sacred Texts.
The curriculum includes further deepening in grammar, syntax, and the study of Sanskrit texts.
The first lesson of each month will be dedicated to the study of Sanskrit hymns (mantras) and sacred texts with literal translation and interpretation of the grammatical and syntactical phenomena we meet. This study can be attended by students who wish to do only one lesson per month.
Eligible for registration in Class B are those who have successfully completed the introductory course or have basic knowledge of the Sanskrit language.
3. Teaching and Research.
Research projects. Translation and publication of Sanskrit texts. Preparing audio-visual teaching material. Republication of Dimitrios Galanos’ books. Teacher training course for beginners.
