6th Bollywood & Multicultural Dance Festival

under the aegis of the International Dance Council (CID – UNESCO)

Athens, 29 June – 1 July 2018
Saturday – Sunday 2 unique performances at the Dora Stratou Theater

East and West, two seemingly remote worlds, find a magical connection to the historical Dora Stratou Theater, in the center of Athens, having the green hill of Philopappou  as a backdrop, from 29 June to 1 July 2018. Three days of “diving” in culture, full of mystery, charm, music, dance and immense aesthetics.

“Greece has always been at the crossroads between the East and the West, where diverse cultures came together and have been formed throughout the years. From India and the Middle East to North Africa and the Mediterranean Basin, great civilizations came in close contact exchanging various characteristics, mainly related to the culture and art. The Festival aims to highlight these particular features with the emphasis on the Art of Dance and Music, and to provide the opportunity for those interested to discover the magic and the beauty of this peaceful coexistence of nations – beyond geographical boundaries – in the modern world we live.”

Great dancers, musicians, singers and artists from Greece and abroad will give two performances on Saturday 30 June and Sunday 1 July 2018. Among them – the founder of the 1st Bollywood Academy in Greece, teacher, choreographer and performer Anna Dimitratou; Indian choreographer, teacher and performer Sumon Rudra, Indian teacher, dancer and choreographer Devesh Mirchandani, Indian teacher, dancer and choreographer Bala Devi  Chandrashekar with roots in traditional Indian dance (Bharatanatyam), Sneha Mistri from Spain (Bollywood – Restro Styl) , Yana Kruppa (modern and traditional Oriental), dancer and teacher Daniel Paul from Finland, Kinga Malec (Bhangra) from Poland, Calypso, and others.


12 Workshops

Besides, 12 workshops will be held, as well as presentations, shows, and lots of other activities. Specifically, the participants will have an opportunity to attend the workshops of  Bollywood, Kollywood, Classical Indian Dances
(Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Garba), Bellydance, Tribal Fusion Bellydance, Modern Baladi and Iraqi (Oriental Dance), Western Bollywood Fusion, Retro Bollywood , etc. given by teachers of the artistic world.

Bollywood Dance Master Training Program “Become a Certified Teacher of Bollywood Dance» will take place as well.

The 5th International Bollywood Dance Competition

The Festival also hosts the 5th International Bollywood Dance Competition in Greece, which is organized by the Oriental Expression Awards. The competition will take place in the Theater area on Saturday June 30, before a 9-member jury and will be divided into two levels – Amateur and Professional, and in two categories – Individual and Group. The winners will be honored with medals and prizes by the Artistic Studio Oriental Expression and the Hellenic-Indian Society for Culture and Development.

Mini Bazaar and Indian flavors

During the seminars, 2 big shows and the Contest, there will be a Mini Bazaar Theater with Indian products, clothes and accessories. At the same time, participants will be able to try Indian snacks at friendly prices.

Opening Party

This is the celebratory welcome party, which marks the official opening of the Festival. It will be full of dancing surprises. All friends and guests of the Festival will attend the event. The party will be held on Friday June 29, 2018.


The Festival is under the aegis of the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) and the International Dance Council (CID – UNESCO) and it is organized by the Artistic Studio Oriental Expression, the 1st Bollywood Dance Academy Greece and the Hellenic-Indian Society for Culture and Development.
