Devīmāhātmyam known also as Durgā Saptashatī, Durgãmãhãtmyam, Caṇḍī Pāṭha or simply Caṇḍī is part of the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa (chap. 81- 93) and it is estimated to have been composed in Sanskrit between 400-600 CE. Devīmāhātmyam contains hymns to the glory of the goddess of light, Durgă, which destroys the evil.
