Filming in Greece: A new legal framework of economic incentives
Greece is for many reasons a film friendly country; its unique light and natural beauty, as well as its rich cultural heritage and versatile architecture have attracted many Bollywood productions with Kashmira Shah’s movie “Die Tomorrow” and the song “Swag Se Swagat” for the movie “Tiger Zinda Hai” with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif being among the most recent and interesting ones.
The Secretary-General for Media & Communication has embarked on a series of initiatives with a new legal framework of economic incentives for promoting audiovisual production in Greece and attracting foreign investment in the sector. These include 35% rebate for grants up to 5 million euros combined with other funding schemes, approval within 45 days and use of the simplified electronic and expedited process.
