The president of ELINEPA Dr. Dimitrios Vassiliadis was selected by ICCR for the 2022 “Bharat Mitra Samman – Distinguished Alumni Award”

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an autonomous body of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, has selected Greek Indologist and President of ELINEPA Dr. Dimitrios Vassiliadis for the 2022 “Bharat Mitra Samman – Distinguished Alumni Award”. The awarding ceremony is expected to take place later this year.

The aforementioned prestigious award was instituted by ICCR in 2015 to recognize ICCR Alumni “who have made significant achievements in his /her field and/or have made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of understanding, goodwill and friendship between India and their country”.

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) was founded in 1950 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, independent India’s first Education Minister. Its objectives are to actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes pertaining to India’s external cultural relations; to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries; to promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people, and to develop relations with nations.
