Concert of Greek-Indian music with the master of sarangi Ilyas Khan in Athens

The Indian saraηgi virtuoso Ilyas Khan accompanied by musicians Nikos Touliatos (drums), Makis Tselentis (keyboards), Giorgos Dinakos (naughty guitar), Giorgos Krionas (classical guitar), Sophia Andrianou (song), Yiannis Economou (song) and Nadi Raj (song) will play LIVE music on Wednesday, May 23, at 9 o’clock at 1002 Nights (10 Karaiskaki str., Psirri, Athens).

The musical evening will begin with Indian ragas and devotional songs (bhajhans) and along its course will be enriched with music and songs of Sufis and other traditions from India to Greece.

Entrance: € 10 (wine, beer or tea)

Seminar

Ilyas Khan will also give a three-hour seminar to all musicians interested in deepening their knowledge on Indian music scales and ways.

A few words about Ilyas Khan

Ilyas Khan began his musical studies at the age of 12 and belongs to the 9th generation of Dewaka Gharana musicians. He has taught in India and abroad and has been awarded the following awards:

  1. “ALL INDIA RADIO” Best Quality Award
  2. “Pandit Omkar Nath” Award from the Government of Gujarat as the Best Sarangi player
  3. “Pandit Adityanath” Award as the best player and improviser in raagas
