Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals inspire Catalanian resistance

Following the call by the President and the Government of Catalonia for peaceful resistance, the supporters of the independence of Catalonia organized a new platform called “En peu de pau” (On a peace footing) that seems to have been inspired by the teachings and the methodology of Mahatma Gandhi.

The platform aims to contribute to the achievement of its political objectives by educating and guiding citizens on methods of peaceful resistance and non-cooperation with the Spanish authorities.

The peaceful resistance of Mahatma Gandhi continues to inspire various movements in our time. Another example of this is the march for justice from Ankara to Istanbul organized by the Turkish opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, which became known as “the Turkish Gandhi’s march”.
