Odissi Dance with Kavita Dwivedi
A performance of Odissi, one of the most lyrical and graceful classical dances of India, has been organised by the Department of Musical Studies, Ionion University on 24/07/2007 at 21:00 in the Ionian Academy.
Odissi is one of the oldest dance forms and traces its origins back to the 2nd century B.C. The theme of Odissi is completely associated with religion. Dance was considered a way of worship and the dancers together with the accompanying artists were dedicated to the deities.
The Odissi classical dance group was led by Ms Kavita Dwivedi, one of the leading exponents of Odissi in India today.
