Ram Navami
रामनवमी की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं
Ram Navami (राम नवमी) is a popular Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu. The festival occurs on the ninth day (navami) of the bright half in the Hindu calendar month of Chaitra (March or April in the Gregorian calendar). Many Vaishnava devotees observe eight prahar fasting during this day, which means they should observe the fast from sunrise to sunrise. The most remarkable celebration of the Rama Navami festival takes place in Ayodya, the birthplace of Lord Rama. Devotees come to Ayodhya from far-flung places to take a holy dip into river Sarayu and visit Rama’s temple. Rama Navami is not a national holiday, but an optional religious festival in India.
The ancient Sanskrit epic Ramayana (रामायणम्) narrates the struggle of the Lord Rama to rescue his wife Sita, which was kidnapped by the demon king Ravana, and teaches morality and virtue.
