Indian participation in the 61st International Folklore Festival of Lefkada
The 61st International Folklore Festival of Lefkada will take place this year from 20 to 25 August 2023 in Lefkada and the islands of Kalamos, Kastos and Meganisi.
The Cultural Center of the Municipality of Lefkada is hosting 8 foreign folklore groups, 2 Greek and 4 local dance clubs along with Dance Schools and a number of volunteers.
The international part of the Festival includes dance groups: Chela from Georgia, Makoto Juku from Japan, Shivam Nrutya Cultural Academy from India, Listra Unpar from Indonesia, Creadanza from Colombia, Ballet Folclorico Maya from Mexico, Foundation Dance Bubura from Ukraine and Tupa Marka from Chile.
In the Greek part, the Educational Association “I Orestis” of Argos Orestikos and the Union of Pontians of Pieria participate, while from Lefkada, Orpheas, the New Choir, Apollon Karyas and the Dance Club of Lefkada.
The 61st Folklore Festival is a member of the European platform EFFE Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe and All About Festivals.
At the same time, it has the support of the Embassies of Georgia, Mexico, Ukraine and Chile, the Hellenic-Indian Society for Culture and Development (ELINEPA), the Bubura Foundation, and the Parahyangan Catholic University of Java.
Shivam Nrutya Cultural Academy
Shivam Nrutya Cultural Academy is a non-profit NGO & Dance Institute, focusing on Indian folk dances from various parts of India as well as classical Bharatnatyam dance in order to maintain its authenticity.
The Academy has participated and represented India in many international festivals & conferences in France, USA, Greece, Hungary, Taiwan, China, Serbia, Bosnia, Portugal, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Germany, Turkey etc.
The main aim and mission of the Academy is to promote Indian Culture in the international arena and preserve its authenticity. The Academy works to preserve and showcase Indian classical as well as popular culture by offering regular non-profit professional shows to raise public awareness to show them how rich Indian culture is.
Many students from Gujarat and Maharashtra participated in Shivam Nrutya Cultural Academy International Festival and feel proud to represent India in both folk and classical culture.
The Academy conducts Diploma and Degree Courses in Indian Classical Dance ‘Bharatnattyam’ like ARANGETRAM, B.A in Music, Masters in Classical Dance and many more…
The Academy has been operating for the last 20 years and continues to expand not only nationally but also internationally
