Abstract:
On 21 June the world will celebrate the UN International Yoga Day which is the core of the Vedic science that developed in the Indus Valley more than five thousand years ago. It is a state of spontaneous creativity, love, compassion, joy, and equanimity. These are also known as the divine qualities described by Lord Krishna in the 16th Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita those which help us live with spontaneity and lightness and guides us to live with a sense of freedom.

The Bhagawad Gita mentions “Yogah Karmasu Kaushalam” – Yoga is excellence at work. This verse advises us to perform our allocated duty excellently. Kaushalam signifies doing work with devotion and without attachment to the fruit of action. We see all these traits in Mahatma Gandhi’s life who lived his life according to the central messages of the Bhagawad Gita–selflessly, without attachment, possession and working in the spirit of Yajnya ( sacrifice).

The talk will cover aspects of Mahatma Gandhi’s entire life of Gyana yoga, Karma yoga, Bhakti  yoga and Samatva Buddhi (Oneness) which gives us the answer to the complex problems that we are collectively facing during the  Global Coronavirus Covid-19 Pandemic. In such a time, we need to learn from Mahatma Gandhi for coping up physically, mentally and spiritually with reverence to Mother Nature……
