Bollywood super stars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif visited at the end of October 2017 the Aegean island of Naxos for shooting the last song of their movie “Tiger Zinda Hai” (the tiger is alive) that is expected to be released in the cinema halls on December 22, 2017.
The popular Indian actors, impressed by the beautiful beaches and the warm hospitality of the island’s inhabitants, uploaded photos and videos of Naxos on their personal pages in social media. The song has been released on YouTube to advertise the movie.
The four-day shootings in Naxos included the scenes with Portara (the most recognizable spot of Naxos), the harbor, and some narrow streets of Chora. More than two hundred people (dancers, technicians, production teams and, of course, the protagonists of the film) worked from India, Greece and France to complete the filming.
The film “Tiger Zinda Hai” was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who also wrote the senario. Aditya Chopra is the producer and the music is composed by the famous duo Vishal – Shekhar. This is the sequel to the action movie “Ek Tha Tiger” (There was a Tiger) filmed in 2012 by the same actors.
Salman Khan had already been to Greece and visited Rhodes, Santorini and Paros islands in 2009 for shooting the film “Wanted“, while Katrina Kaif made with Hrithik Roshan the film “Bang Bang!” in Mykonos and Santorini in 2014.
Indian film productions make an important contribution to the Greek economy by attracting Indian tourists to Greece and are therefore particularly well received by local authorities and the Greek state.
