State visit of the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, to India

The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias is on a state visit, following an invitation from his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, the Minister of National Defense met with the Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, at his residence. During the meeting, the two Ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments, while Mr. Dendias thanked Dr. Jaishankar for the invitation he extended to him to participate and speak at “The India – EU Forum”.

As part of his visit to India, Nikos Dendias, participated on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in a discussion at the 1st “The India – EU Forum”. In the Forum, which was co-organized in New Delhi by the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the think tank “Ananta Centre”. During the discussion with the President of the “India Practice” Ashok Malik and with participants in the Forum, the Minister of National Defense referred in detail to European defense and highlighted, among other things, the role that India can play in the Greek defense innovation and technology ecosystem.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Mr. Dendias had meetings with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Władysław Bartoszewski, the former Chancellor and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Alexander Schallenberg, and the EU Ambassador to Japan Jean–Eric Paquet.

On Sunday 8 February 2026, the Greek Minister will go to Bangalore (10.30 a.m. local time), which is the geographical centre of Indian companies active in the field of innovations and developing modern technologies. During the visit, he will examine the possibilities of cooperation between the Greek defence innovation ecosystem and India’s counterpart.

On Monday 9 February, Mr. Dendias will have a private meeting with the Minister of Defence of India, Rajnath Singh, at New Delhi, (17.30 local time). Talks of the two delegations will follow.
