Celebration of India’s Republic Day in Athens 2023

The celebration of India’s 74th Republic Day in Athens was organized on January 26th morning, with the unfurling of the Tricolour at the Embassy’s courtyard. The Charge d’ Affaires S. Rajendran read out the Address by the President of India Shrimati Droupadi Murmu.

The celebration was attended by many members of the Indian community from various parts of Greece and friends of India who sang the national anthem and offered flowers to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The morning celebration ended with Indian refreshments.

The traditional reception took place in a central hotel of Athens, where among the guests, who honored the event with their presence, were H.E. Prof. John Chrysoulakis, Secretary-General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Georgios Papandreou, former PM and president of Greece-India Friendship group in the Parliament, members of the country’s political, military and ecclesiastical leadership, ambassadors of many states, representatives of Indian companies operating in Greece, and also cultural and business organizations, university professors and many other personalities.

The Hellenic-Indian Society for Culture and Development (ELINEPA) and the Greek Indian Business Association (GIBA) were represented by their President Dr Dimitrios Vassiliadis, Gen. Secretary Mr. Anthony Papadopoulos, Honorary Member and Knight Commander H.E. Mr. Georgios Olympios, the Cultural Programs Organizer Ms. Anna Dimitratou, the musician Mr. Konstantinos Kalaitzis and several other members and friends of ELINEPA.
