Leisure and Wellness Tour to Kerala – February 2026

The Hellenic-Indian Society for Culture and Development (ELINEPA) and the Hellenic Society for Asian Studies are organizing a leisure and physical wellness tour to the State of Kerala, in South India.

The program and details of the tour are given below:

Dates:

Departure from Athens on February 8, 2026. Return from Mumbai on February 23.

Duration of the tour:

Kerala 13 nights plus 1 night in Mumbai plus 1 night on the international trip Athens-Mumbai. Total 15 nights, 16 days.

Main stations of the tour:

Kochi (two plus one nights)

Munnar (one night)

Periyar National Park (two nights)

Alappuzha (two nights)

Thrissur (two nights)

Cherai Beach (three nights, Team Α)

Thiruvanathapuram (three nights, Team Β)

Varkala (Day trip, Team Β)

KanyaKumari (Day trip, Team Β)

Mumbai (one night)

Cost: 

The exact cost will be adjusted by the transportation, hotel and service prices we shall face (including international airfare). Hotel prices will be based on double room rates, single occupancy and dinner at hotels (if preferred) will be charged separately. 

Visa: For electronic visa issuance, read more and apply at least a week in advance on the Indian Government website. HERE. If you travel to India regularly, prefer the timely issuance of a 5-year visa online (more economical) or from the Embassy of India in Athens (more expensive).

Itinerary:

The itinerary of the tour is as follows:

Day 1: (8 Feb. 2026)
Departure from Athens International Airport at 15.25 with Indigo Airways and arrive in Kochi at 10.05 in the morning (with a transfer in Mumbai).

Days 2 and 3: Kochi (9 and 10 Feb, 2 nights)

Days 4 and 5: Munnar (11 and 12 Feb, 2 nights)

Day 6: Periyar (13 Feb, 1 night)

Days 7 and 8: Alappuzha (14 and 15 Feb, 2 nights)

Days 9 and 10: Thrissur (16 and 17 Feb. 2 nights)

Group A:

Days 11, 12 and 13: Ayurvedic Center at Cherai Beach (18, 19 and 20 Feb., 3 nights)

Day 14: Kochi (21 Feb., 1 night)

Day 15: Kochi-Mumbai (22 Feb., 1 night)

Group B:

Day 11: Kochi (18 Feb, 1 night)

Days 12, 13 and 14: B. Thrissur-Thiruvanathapuram (19, 20 and 21 Feb, 3 nights)

Day 15: Thiruvanathapuram-Mumbai (22 Feb, 1 night)

Basic program (Groups A and B)

Day 16: Mumbai-Athens (23 Feb)
Departure from Mumbai International Airport.
Direct flight with Indigo Airways at 9.50 to Athens.
Arrival in Athens at 14.50.
End of excursion.

Accommodation:

Accommodation in double rooms in 4 or 3-star hotels with an additional charge for single rooms. Hotels will be selected after extensive research in their category and according to existing availability without splitting the group into different hotels. The selection of hotels may change according to availability and offers on the day of booking.

Services included in the tour package:

Hotels –  Double rooms in 3-4 star hotels or centers with an extra charge for single rooms. Hotels will be selected after extensive research into their category and according to availability.

Meals – Daily breakfast in hotels. Dinner can be included in hotels at an additional cost for those who want it. There are many good restaurants in big cities, but indigestions in India always need special attention.

Transportation – Domestic airplanes and trains will be used for long distances. Tempo and cars will be used for shorter distances and wherever a train is unavailable.

Communication – wi-fi will be available for free or at a reasonable charge in most hotels. Indian sim cards are available with a presentation of the required documents.

Boating– Boating in Kochi and Alappuzha.

Lectures and Seminars – Lectures by local teachers and monks in ashrams and monasteries. Introductory seminars on Indian culture by Dr. Dimitrios Vassiliadis.

Cultural Programs – To be advised later which folk programs will be available.

Requirements:

1. Sound physical condition.

2. Medical Tests: Ask your doctor if you can travel to India. No special vaccines are required.

3. Modest comfortable clothing, shoes for walking, raincoat.

4. Simple living and basic knowledge and understanding of Indian culture.

5. Non-vegetarian food and alcohol are strictly forbidden in holy places.

6. Shoes and photography are not allowed inside many temples.
