3rd Bollywood and Multicultural Dance Festival

The final preparations for the greatest cultural event of Southeastearn Europe in Bollywood and Multicultural Dances are taking place: The 3rd “Bollywood and Multicultural Dance Festival” wich is organized by Artistic Studio Oriental Expression in collaboration with Hellenic-Indian Society for Culture and Development (EL.ΙΝ.Ε.P.Α.). During the Festival, the 1st Greek Production Bollywood Musical: “India: The Land of Love” will be presented.
After the 1st and the 2nd Festival that were held in June 2013 and 2014 in the Historical “Dora Stratou” theater – under the aegis of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports and the International Dance Council (CID – UNESCO) – the organizers move the already successful institution to a more central and bigger place that will house this year’s festival.
Technopolis City of Athens is expected to attract more than 5.000 participants – with renowned teachers from all over the globe – will be this year’s “hive” of dance and cultural activities.
In this magnificent dance celebration everyone is welcomed. Cultural clubs, dance troupes as well as independent artists that wish to participate, can contact the organizers.
The Festival
The Festival will last 3 days – from Friday July 3rd to Sunday July 5th2015. During these three days many workshops will take place in combination with presentations, performances, lectures, Bollywood films, bazaars, the 2nd International Bollywood Dance Competition in Greece and lots of other activities.
The workshops
Workshops – at the dance rooms of “Technopolis” (Gkazi) – will last 9 hours a day (10 am-7 pm)
Master teachers from Greece and abroad will teach: Bollywood Dance, Greek Dances (Rebetiko – Zorbas – Syrtaki), Classical Indian Dances (Kathak, Odissi, Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattan, etc.), Oriental, Roma Havasi, Tribal Fusion Bellydance, and more. There will also be Fitness workshops (Yoga, Pilates, DanceXtreme, Stretching, Barre Astie).
The Shows and the 2nd Bollywood Dance Competition
The shows will be performed on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th of July, starting at 8 pm at the Technopolis Central Stage. Performances will be given by master artists and dance troupes from Greece and abroad, whereas the Competition will take place on Saturday at 7pm. The Winners of the Competition will be announced during Saturday’s show, and the winner team will perform on Sunday’s show.
- It is a great honor that the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), has sponsored the visit of a 5-member Kathak dance group led by the well-known teacher and dancer Ms. Swati Wangnoo Tiwari, to teach and perform in this year’s festival.
