Kashmera Shah in Kavala to Film Her New Movies in the City

The city of Kavala seems to have captivated Bollywood actress and former Miss India, Kashmera Shah. Nearly ten years after completing her feature-length comedy Marne Bhi Do Yaaron in Kavala, she has returned to this beautiful Macedonian city to film two micro dramas, Mafia Mister and Emergency Contact, for Zee Bullet, a division of Zee TV. At the same time, Kashmera is also directing an independent film of her own, Vashika, in which she stars alongside Sharad Malhotra, Karan Mehra, and Ankit Raj.

Kashmera Shah is accompanied by a select group of distinguished actors from India, Los Angeles, and the Philippines, as well as a 12-member team of Indian technicians, all working under the direction of acclaimed cinematographer Neelaabh Arun Kaur.

Filming took place in the city’s picturesque narrow streets, at Kapnergatis Square, at the Apostolos Pavlos harbour, at Hippokrates Hospital, and at a country villa in Palio, a seaside suburb of Kavala. Other locations included the Monomachoi (Gladiators) gym and various restaurants and cafés made available by Kavala-based entrepreneur Giorgos Tsakalidis.

All the film’s exterior scenes were shot in and around Kavala, showcasing the city’s unique beauty from the perspectives of its mountains, skies, and sea.

Kashmera described her experience on Instagram in the following words: “Starting this new chapter with my second directorial as an independent filmmaker feels exhilarating and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I feel proud seeing my dream unfold. Do believe in dreams; they do come true. It happens when you open your eyes, step outside your comfort zone, and have faith. Filming in Greece isn’t just a location choice; it’s a character in our story. Grateful for this crew, this moment, and the courage to tell stories my way.”
