THE HIDDEN AND FORGOTTEN SPIRITUAL MEANING OF GREEK MYTHOLOGY
We are going to follow the terms of the title of this conference.
What do we mean by “spiritual”?
With Greek myths, it is not about wisdom (mind) or religion (faith) but a fantastic illustration of the spiritual path or evolutionary path
Because spirituality is identical to evolution. Example of the child
An evolution to become again what we have forgotten to be, divine.
Let us be clear about the word Divine…
Since many millennia, a path of mental development to acquire discernment
This mythology therefore describes a path of evolution, not only past and present, but also for the millennia to come.
The title mentions the word “hidden”.
Why was the profound meaning of this mythology hidden?
- code of silence, religion against spirituality, risk of abuse of power
- only revealed in the mystery schools: Samothace and Eleusis (Aeschylus)
How was it hidden?
By means of coding keys that I have re-discovered with the help of the books of Sri Aurobindo
– The letters of the alphabet (e.g. Iota Gamma Rho)
– Genealogies
– Symbolism of the characters and stories
– Chronology
– The caduceus of Hermes linked to the classification of the planes of consciousness Atlas and the seven Pleiades
Other minor keys, such as provinces and cities: cf. catalogue of the ships of the Iliad
To decipher: an application of the keys in an almost mathematical way.
The title also mentions “forgotten”
Disappearance of Knowledge because of the cycles of the mind: myth of Prometheus
Necessity of putting in writing for future generations the most important, not children’s stories
In our time, since Levi Strauss and structuralism, no hidden meaning is allowed to be expressed
Why? Problem of variants and, therefore, no original myth.
Disappearance of Knowledge not taken into account
How is this mythology organised?
In the lineages of the Titans when the gods took power
Entry into mental development. Mental = intellect and intuition
Two essential branches, each with a part concerning the final goals and a part more closely linked to experiences
- The ascent into the mind: myths of Jason, Sisyphus and Bellerophon for the beginnings of the path, then trojan lineage
- Process of purification and liberation (ego, desires): Minotaur, wars of Thebes, Perseus, Labours of Heracles
- Combination of the two paths: the Iliad and the Odyssey
The evolutionary process: Ascent/integration
The Myth of Jason
Symbol of the Golden Fleece: consciousness = sensitivity
Some trials: women of Lemnos, Mount of bears, Cyanide Rocks, Sirens
Invitation
I’m not asking you to take my word for it.
I’m inviting you :
- To consider a different point of view to the commonly accepted one.
- To discover my work
- To join a team to work in the long term.
I’m looking for people who, after listening to this lecture, feel an inner calling to participate in this vast long-term adventure to let the world know what a fantastic treasure the Greek mythology holds.
CLAUDE DE WARREN
Born in Paris, France, on 18 June 1949
Higher education at ENAC, the National School of Civil Aviation
Engineering degree in 1973
Professional life
Worked as a consultant or project manager in the studies, construction or rehabilitation of international airports and air traffic control centres in various countries.
Main projects: participation in the construction of Baghdad and Jakarta international airports, the construction of the Cairo and Ujung Pandang (Indonesia) air traffic control centres, and the implementation of a seismological network in Indonesia.
Spiritual seeker
In parallel to his life as an engineer, for which he had negotiated part-time work with his management for several years, he took an interest in a wide range of disciplines until 1985:
- Eastern and Western religions and philosophies
- Spiritualities of the past and present.
- Occultism: alchemy, kabbalah, numerology, etc.
- Medicines of the world on energetic and spiritual levels
Through all these researches, a particular interest in symbolism has developed.
The discovery of the works of Sri Aurobindo and his spiritual partner in 1985 put an end to this eclectic search.
From then on, he tried to follow their guidance as best he could, which led him first of all to study for three years The Cycles of the Mind in the History of Civilisations. (Published belatedly in Auroville in 2024).
Then research into the symbolism used in the Book of Genesis and the Book of Revelation led him, through similar legends, to turn to Greek mythology.
Almost twenty years of study were necessary to rediscover the coding keys and apply them to deciphering the whole of Greek mythology, both in its broad outlines and in the smallest details.
This research was published in three volumes in France under the title Mythologie Grecque, Yoga de l’Occident (Greek Mythology, Yoga of the West) between 2013 and 2015.
This research is available in full on the website greekmyths-interpretation.com in French, English and German.
Settled in Auroville since the end of 2015, he has gathered around him a team of six people to conduct in-depth research into this mythology and make it known as widely as possible.
