Shri Rudrendra Tandon has been appointed as the next ambassador of India to Greece

Shri Rudrendra Tandon presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Greece.

A press release from the Ministry of External Affairs issued on 31st March 2023 said Tandon, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1994 batch, was expected to take up his new assignment shortly.

Mr. Rudrendra Tandon was previously the Ambassador of India to Afghanistan (2020-2021) and returned to India two days after the Taliban seized power.
Prior to his tenure in Kabul, he was India’s Ambassador to the ASEAN Secretariat since 2018.
He has done postings at the Indian Embassies in Paris (France), Algiers (Algeria), Kabul (Afghanistan) and Moscow (Russia) and served as India’s Consul General in Jalalabad (Afghanistan).
While posted in India, he has served as Under Secretary (Pakistan), Director in the Prime Minister’s Office, Director (Pakistan), JS (PAI) and Joint Secretary (UNP).

Ambassador Tandon has done a Masters’ Degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and is married to an Indian Police Service Officer.
