“Celebrating 90 years since Tagore’s visit to Greece” in Chalandri
On the occasion of 90 years since the visit of the national poet of India and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore to Greece, the Hellenic-Indian Society for Culture & Development (EL.IN.E.P.A.) in co-operation with the Municipality of Chalandri and the Embassy of India in Athens organized a special event on the theme:
“Celebrating 90 years since Rabindranath Tagore’s visit to Greece (1926-2016)”

– Address by Mr. Simos Roussos, Mayor of Chalandri
– Speech by H.E. Ms. Murugesan Manimekalai, the Ambassador of India to Greece, on “Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and his vision”
– Presentation of the Commemorative Volume “Rabindranath Tagore: 90 years since his visit to Greece”
– Speech with slides by Dr. Dimitrios Vassiliadis, Professor at University of Athens and Chairman of EL.IN.E.P.A., on “The historic visit of Tagore in Greece”
– Speech with slides by Ms. Ntina Anastasiadou, Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Rabindra Bharati University, on “The paintings of Tagore and his contribution to the development of the Indian Fine Arts”
– Screening of the documentary “The Story of Gitanjali” by Malay Bhattacharya (30 minutes with Greek subtitles)
– Songs composed by Rabindarnath Tagore performed by Kostas Kalaitzis
– Sitar solo by Iason Psarakis
– Discussion and Indian dishes
