Music legend Pandit Jasraj passed away today at the age of 90 in New Jersey, USA. He was a recipient of the Padma Shri (1975), Padma Bhushan (1990) and Padma Vibhushan (2000).
Back in 2019, a minor planet, between Mars and Jupiter, was named after the famed musician. Expressing his happiness, Pandit Jasraj had told on this occasion, “This is beyond my dreams. In this honour, one can experience only God’s Grace. For me, the proximity of the minor planet to Jupiter (Guru as per Hindu Astrology) is an indication that my Gurus willed it with their blessings. Music spreads love and unites souls. I am truly humbled, but this honour belongs to our divine Indian Classical Music, our great nation… Jai Ho.”
The ELINEPA expresses its condolences to Pandit Jasraj family and admirers worldwide. May his soul rest in the sweetness of the Lord that he sang during his entire life. Om Shanti.
