Dhrupad Concert with Uday Bawalkar
The Hellenic-Indian Society for Culture & Development with the kind support of the Indian Embassy in Athens organizes a Dhrupad Concert with the renowned Indian singer, Uday Bawalkar
on 4 October at 20:30 hrs at the Theater of the Deree – The American College of Greece (6 Gravias Street, Aghia Paraskevi, 153 42)
Dhrupad is an Indian music tradition that dates back to the Vedic era and continues to evolve to this day. A meditative musical practice , Dhrupad focuses on the accuracy of musical intervals, thus highlighting the subtle tones and surfacing their inner meaning.
Uday Bhawalkar is today one of the most recognized and respected continuers of this tradition, a talented and multi-award winning musician, he travels and performs concerts, spreading the tradition of Dhrupad around the world.
The singer will be accompanied by the traditional instruments of Dhrupad, the drum Pakhawaj played by George Glinos and the Tanpura played by Periclis and Rahil.
