Holy and Profane love – Playing between Bharata Natyam and Flamenco at Handmade and Recycled Festival

The Multi-Active Group of Art Fabrica Athens invites you to the dance performance Sacred and Profane Love – Bharata Natyam and Flamenco directed by Renzo Vescovi and performed by Caterina Scotti on September 28 at 9:00 p.m. (60′) at Technohoros Fabrika (125 Alexandrou Street & Evrymedontos, Kerameikos, Athens).

The performance explores the connection between dances from the classical South Indian repertoire known as bharata natyam and the Spanish dance flamenco. The erotic and aggressive style of the balaoras, the flamenco dancers, with the sacred world of the devadasi, the priestesses of the Indian temples, share many common elements starting from the technique, lines and shapes of these two dances to the philosophy behind based on three concepts: devotion, prayer and honor.

The performance is part of the handmade and recyclable festival in the neighborhood of Kerameikos, which takes place for the tenth consecutive year from September 22 to October 2, 2022.
