India to be Honoured Country at Thessaloniki International Trade Fair 2019
India is the honoured country at the 84th Thessaloniki International Trade Fair, which will be held from 7-15 September 2019.
The announcement was made by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind during his state visit to Greece on 18 and 19 June 2018. He informed his Greek counterpart President Prokopis Pavlopoulos at the Presidential Palace that India had accepted the invitation to participate in the prestigious Thessaloniki International Fair 2019 as the “Honoured Country”.
India’s nomination is expected to boost the India-Greece economic ties and to promote trade and investment engagement. The bilateral trade between the two countries amounting to US dollars 530 million per year is much below the potential and more efforts must be made to expand and diversify trade between the two countries.
Last time India was the Honoured Country at the 74th Thessaloniki International Trade Fair 2009 and participated with many trade companies and presented a rich cultural program.
